A Modern Holiday —
Lucky us! Our Turnstyle Design team had the perfect start to the holiday season this year: Christmas music, festive decorating and ultimately a day spent with a favorite client.
Kitchen Renovation —
With the wind in their hair and excitement at their backs, most folks will naturally want to hit a kitchen head-on when buying a new home; get into the remodel portion immediately.
Paperback Writer
Of the many elements that one has to work with in any given environment, the humble medium of paper is often left off the list. Well, not if you have the talents of one of my colleagues Ashley Gierke. She, rather insightfully, treats this simple material with more reverence than usual.
Shine Like A Diamond —
So when it comes to finishing up a space, as you can imagine, there are lots of details one needs to put attention to. The old adage: the details are everything, are truly…everything.
Project Feature: Light & Lovely Family Home
All hands on deck for this one! With an entryway, a dining room, a kitchen, and a living area to tackle, our days on this project were filled with all that comes with creating many cohesive spaces.
Cottages & Bungalows Magazine: A Turnstyle Home Feature
Flowers may bloom overnight, but your home décor certainly doesn’t. Sometimes, it takes a while for your dream space to blossom. Lieve Saether recently sat down with Cottages and Bungalows Magazine to discuss how she helped a frustrated Family to realize the clean, modern space of their dreams.
How To Finish Off A Rounded Tile —
For one of our kitchen projects we are finishing up, we fell hard in love with this abalone shell tile. Right?! I mean, of course, we had to have it. But sometimes it hurts to be pretty and said tile was no easy exception.
Tribeza’s Interiors Tour
Growing up between Belgium and the U.S., interior designer Lieve Saether was raised by an artistic family who emphasized the importance of “boundary-less thinking on art, space, and everyday objects.”
Says the designer, “The art of not only beauty, but quality, craftsmanship and origin have always been essential to me. As an art history and fine arts major studying at University in Brussels, in a way it was inevitable that I became an interior designer.” Along with her husband and two children, Saether moved to Austin in 2007 where she launched Turnstyle Design.
Austin Statesman: Teen Room
A great struggle for any parent of a teen is asking them to keep their bedroom clean. How can you create a functional space that promotes organization, but also creates a safe haven where they will love spending their time?
Austin Statesman: Outdoor Elements
Do you love the outdoors and nature, and wish that the elements could be incorporated into your home? Whether your style is modern, traditional or even a little unique, there are many ways to incorporate natural and outdoor items into your design.
Austin Statesman: Ceiling Design —
When you think of designing a room in your home, the mind does not immediately go to the ceiling. In fact, the ceiling probably never even enters the equation.
New Baby, New Space…New Storage Then Too, Right?!
We always love installation days. Our most recent project had us designing a better-appointed entryway to accommodate two new little feet, and a dining area that’s intended to get this lovely new family around the table…and lots of others!
On The Western Front
Traveling can oftentimes be hard when you’ve got two little ones running around. When planning a recent trip, we decided to stay relatively close to home and travel to a Southwestern beauty – Arizona.
The Turnstylist On House Proud —
We are so excited to have been features on TWC’s House Proud with Amy Hadley to discuss design and decoration for a shared room.
Home Sweet Modern Home Tour —
Most of us dream of owning Modern. Even if we may never get there – this weekend allowed us at least a little glimpse in – since it was time for the always fun, very voyeuristic Austin Modern Home Tour.
Foreign + Domestic
This weekend, take the opportunity to try a true Austin gem; and not one you would expect if you just walked in off of the street. Unpretentious and straightforward, Foreign and Domestic is tiny, tiny (only 47 seats), yet combines expertly, detailed prepared food with manageable prices right here in our beloved city.
3 Favorite Things In My Home: Ashley Gierke
My sphere collection is my most treasured possession. I have been collecting spheres for over 8 years and am always on the lookout for any new ones to add. Of course, I am somewhat selective in terms of whichever make the cut—I try to avoid sporting balls since those are so predictable.
Step Change: Custom Stair Railing Design & Fabrication
Recently, we completed a project that as always, required very some customized design. With an outside entryway staircase bare of its railing, we were on hand to produce something beautiful yet of course functional, but further than that, something that felt had always been a part of the home’s original design.
