We’re Talking Turnstyle today! After remodeling their bathroom, we sat down with the homeowners to get their perspective of the Turnstyle experience.

Each year we deck the halls and convert our homes into a holiday spectacular. As Turnstylists we always love to turn things on their heads.

Interior design is all about individual pieces coming together to create beautiful spaces. We found this true when our principal designer, Lieve Saether, was chosen to be featured in a Delta Faucets commercial.

The holidays are right around the corner! The Curated Collection is a grouping of vintage, hand-picked, small décor items selected by our own expert Lieve Saether, Principal Designer of Turnstyle Design.

As the definer of nineties fashion photography, Peter Lindbergh gave birth to the notion of the super model. This fresh release (Sept 2016) gives insight and reminiscence to us generation xers.

With each year, there are new innovations, new textures, materials and advances of all sorts in how we can facilitate our lives. Yet, with the new, also often comes the resurgence of older things, hence styles coming back into rotation.

Look what we found in the archives! It got us to thinking – how refreshing is it that our philosophies have remained true throughout the years?

Every year, I hear the collective buzz from people all around me extolling their love for fall. As summers pass, each one of us seems to look forward to cooler temperatures and all the excitement ahead with this particularly wonderful season.

Last week we were thrilled to share the news that we are the People’s Pick Winner of the Kid-Tastic spaces category of the 2016 HGTV Fresh Faces of Design Awards! Thank you again to all who voted for us.

Firstly, white serves as a great palate cleanser for the eye. Allowing us a moment to pause, it prevents areas from becoming too overloaded with color and activity.

When you are expecting a new little presence in your home, the list of tasks involved in the preparation can be intimidating. Not only do you have to plan for this child’s future, but you might also feel the need to consider the space in which this baby will grow up, and make sure that the room feels just right, in order to help nurture your little one.

It happens before you know it – all toddlers suddenly turn into teenagers! And there you are, sitting at their bedside wondering, ‘how did all of this occur so fast?!’ Well that was me this summer.

As an aesthetically-conscious bunch of designers here at Turnstyle Design, we are constantly keeping our eyes open for those unique pieces which make us feel special, feel at home, or any other such positive feeling.

At the start of 2016, Turnstyle had the great fortune of being selected for an episode of HGTV’s House Hunter’s Renovation. We were paired with a young couple who just purchased their first-time home in south Austin by way of upstate New York.

Anything related to window treatments immediately feels daunting to most. You move in to a new place and immediately you’re stuck without any privacy what-so-ever!

Given my heritage, I have the very fortunate position of having many places to travel to on vacation. With family members strewn about most of central Europe and Scandinavia, there are always requests for visits, or incentives to cross the pond in the first place.

Architecture is at the heart of all interior design, with ceilings often overlooked in terms of their significance. Bring a historical context and some age into the equation, and one can easily come upon a structured upward view that’s ever so breathtaking.

Open floor plans are a wonderful way to make a home feel inclusive. However, no walls and ill-defined areas can leave us with too much visibility not to mention a lack of understanding on how to use the house in particular.
